Kanex Group Inc. has released a new version (1.2) of Air Whisper, their MP3 player for the Mac. The update adds transparency to its “skins” to better match the look and feel of Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar, according to Paul Pen of Kanex Group.
Air Whisper boasts a technology for skins creation called ezFFS (easy free form skins) that takes advantage of Mac OS X’s imaging power. Version 1.2 offers three levels of transparency that allows Mac OS X 10.2 users to adjust Air Whisper skins in such a way that it doesn’t interfere with other applications while visible, Pen said.
While skins transparency works on Mac OS X 10.2 only, Air Whisper supports previous Mac OS X version, as well as the traditional Mac operating system (Mac OS 8.6 through 9.x). You’ll also need QuickTime 4.1 or later. Air Whisper floats atop other running applications. The MP3 Player can be set up to accommodate the way you wish to sort parameters, display song/album/artist titles, assign keyboard shortcuts and more.
Some skins are included with Air Whisper; others can be downloaded for free. The MP3 player itself is also available for immediate download. Version 1.2 is a free update to registered users. For others, the price is US$10.
