ThinkFree Corp.’s Java-based Microsoft Office alternative, ThinkFree Office, is now available in a five-user “Family Edition” package for US$99.90.

ThinkFree Office provides word processing, spreadsheet and presentation graphics applications bundled together in a suite. The software can create, open, edit and save Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, and it runs on Mac OS X, “Classic” Mac OS, Windows and Linux operating systems.
ThinkFree Office Family Edition provides buyers with five user licenses that can be distributed within a single-family household. It also provided five accounts and a one-year subscription to CyberdrivePlus, ThinkFree’s secure online file storage and Web service.
If you already have a ThinkFree CyberdrivePlus subscription — included with the standard ThinkFree Office license — you can upgrade to ThinkFree Office Family Edition for US$49.95.
The standard one user license version of ThinkFree Office Retail Edition on CD-ROM remains available for $49.95 as well. It’s available from select retailers. A Download Edition is available for the same price through the ThinkFree Web site.
In related news, ThinkFree Corp. today announced it had reached a distribution deal with UK-based software and hardware distributor Computers Unlimited. The London-based company will distribute ThinkFree Office throughout the UK and Europe. ThinkFree Office is now available localized in English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Portuguese. The company plans to release localized versions in French, Italian, Spanish, German and Hebrew by early 2003.
