KidzMouse Inc., a developer of niche-market computer peripherals for educational use, has signed a license agreement with Sesame Workshop, the folks behind Sesame Street.

The agreement will enable KidzMouse to offer computer mice in character designs patterned after Sesame Street’s characters, including Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Ernie. The KidzMouse mice are roughly half the size of a conventional computer mouse and feature a rounded shape that better fits growing hands. Instead of the left/right click functionality that often confuses young children, just put your hand on the back, squeeze the top of the head, eyes, or on the side and it will function just like an “adult” mouse, KidzMouse spokesperson Melissa Stoltz told MacCentral. The mice can be plugged into Macs via the USB ports.
Look for the new mice to be launched next month with distribution in early February. The manufacturers suggested retail price for “Sesame Street by KidzMouse” products will be US$31.95 or higher, depending on whether the product is bundled with software.
