DVcreators.net president and CEO Josh Mellicker explained that the disc puts forth the most important concepts to help enable video creators to get more professional-looking results. “Many video creators who are expert at computer editing find their finished projects still don’t ‘look like Hollywood,’ because they’re working with mediocre, subpar or amateurish-looking footage,” said Mellicker.
Complete with synchronized text, graphics and video, the CD-ROM includes information on planning a video project, setting exposure, shutter speed, timecode, preroll/postroll and white balance, framing and shot composition, the rule of thirds, using angles, face space, scene coverage and shooting for the Web.
The disc also includes information on lighting. Three point lighting concepts are taught, with key, fill, backlight and background lights covered, getting good outside results, and information on constructing your own light kit and backdrop. You’ll also get info on location sound; how to use your camcorder’s built-in mic, lapel mics, shotgun mics and handheld mics, with audio examples of each type.
Through the end of December, “Shooting Awesome Video” costs US$24.95.
