Boris FX has released 18 real-time plug-ins for Avid’s Xpress DV. Avid Xpress DV is a nonlinear video editing system for Mac OS X and Windows users.
The plug-ins are available now as a free download to users of the Boris Continuum Complete AVX (BCC AVX) package. This is the first time that a third-party developer has provided real-time effects capabilities using the native Avid effects interface, according to Boris founder and President Boris Yamnitsky.
BCC AVX is a package of filters for NLEs and motions graphics software. It has over 90 filters for compositing, image processing, keying, color, distortion and temporal effects. The solution also offers animated apply modes, film grain, light zoom, ramping time effects and more. All offer editable, customizable presets to streamline effects creation.
The real-time filters include Basic Blur, Boost Blend, Brightness-Contrast, Color Balance, Colorize, Composite, Fast Flipper, Invert-Solarize, Levels Gamma, Linear Luma Key, Make Alpha Key, MultiTone Mix, PixelChooser, Posterize, Tritone, Mosaic, RGB Blend, and Two Way Key. All the filters work in the same effects interface as Xpress DV’s native effects to minimize learning curve and maximize productivity, according to Yamnitsky.
BCC AVX adds animated apply modes, full control over Z space with intersecting planes, animated lights and cameras, and the ability to map video to 3D. Every BCC AVX filter includes presets for a wide range of customizable effects; you can also add your own presets.
