Virtix Spectra contained 20 filters for iMovie designed to help alter and correct images, highlight objects and add unique color effects, according to Virtix. The new 2.0 release sports four bonus effects: Extreme Contrast, Bubbles, Crosseyed and Snow.
Snow adds “a wintery look” to your video, while Extreme Contrast spreads an image evenly across the brightness spectrum. This can brighten a dark room, tone down an overexposed image and improve the quality of washed-out scenes, according to the developer. Bubbles simulates an underwater scene while Crosseyed adds a “passing out or waking up” effect.
Available for download from Virtix’s Web site, Virtix Spectra 2.0 costs US$24.99. Again, the 2.0 version is free if you already use 1.0. Virtix Spectra requires iMovie 2.0.1 or later with Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X.
