Planar PX display sports iMac-like adjustments

Planar Systems Inc. has announced its new PX line of flat-panel LCD displays. The first model in the lineup introduces a height-adjustable swivel system that as described sounds similar to Apple’s own flat-panel iMac display.

The new PX171M features “resistance-free swivel, pivot and height adjustments,” according to Planar. “The light touch of a single finger” is sufficient to move the display.

A 17-inch flat panel display, the PX171M also sports a 16ms response time and native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels (XVGA). It includes both analog and digital inputs (with a DVI connector) and stereo speakers, and is available in white, black or silver finishes. Its estimated street price is US$589.

Planar plans to expand the PX family with additional models in early 2003.
