Opera Software ASA has released a final version of their Opera 6.0 Web browser.
Opera is an “alternative” Web browser that’s designed to be fast, small, easy to use, and compliant with all Internet standards. It requires Mac OS X (10.1 or later) or Mac OS 8.6-9.x. Opera 6 for Mac includes major changes since Opera 5, including faster rendering speed, improved font switching for international Web pages, some user interface fixes, a new autosave pages feature, and a shared library for developers, according to Mary Lambert, product line manager desktop, Opera Software ASA.. Developers can contact Opera to embed this library on Mac applications requiring a rendering engine. Opera 6 for Mac also includes local language support.
The browser is available for free in an ad-sponsored version. If you download it and want to remove the banner ad, you can register it for US$29 ($10 off the regular price), receive a free upgrade to version 7, get access personal support via e-mail, and free OperaMail Premium for six months (from the day Opera 7 is available).
