In Freedom Force, you must form, train and lead into battle Freedom Force, a team of 14 different superheroes inspired by the “Silver Age” of Comic Books. Sworn to defend Patriot City, Freedom Force must keep Lord Dominion and his minions at bay as they attempt to destroy the Earth. The game was originally developed by Crave Entertainment and has been converted to the Mac by The Omni Group.
The game includes 22 missions which put you in control of squads of heroes with identities like “Minuteman,” “ManBot” and “El Diablo.” Once you’re done with the game’s single player missions, you’ll find LAN-based multiplayer support too.
Role playing game elements come in to play in the game’s skill system, where players can juggle stats between heroes, expand powers, recruit new heroes and strengthen their existing team members by accruing experience in battle.
MacPlay noted that the first 200 customers who buy Freedom Force would get a free limited-run Freedom Force t-shirt as well.
Rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB, Freedom Force is priced at US$39.99. System requirements call for a PowerPC G4/400MHz or faster, 192MB RAM, 600MB available hard disk space, ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce2 MX video card or better, and Mac OS X 10.1.5 or higher.
