Pixar Animation Studios on Friday announced the company would be added to the NASDAQ 100 Index. Pixar, which is led by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, will be added to the index on December 23, 2002.
“We are thrilled to join the NASDAQ-100,” said Jobs, Pixar’s Chairman and CEO. “This is an important milestone in Pixar’s 16 year history, and reflects the talent, hard work and dedication of our entire team.”
The NASDAQ-100 Index is composed of the 100 largest non-financial stocks listed on The Nasdaq Stock Market based on market capitalization. Shares of Pixar will also be included in The NASDAQ-100 Index Tracking Stock.
Pixar has had several smash hits over the last few years including Toy Story; A Bug’s Life; Toy Story 2; and Monsters, Inc. Pixar plans to release Finding Nemo in the summer of 2003, The Incredibles (holiday 2004) and Cars (holiday 2005).
