Pisces-Print Imaging Sciences Inc. and Ultimate Technographics Inc. have announced a plan to bundle IMPress with Pisces’ new JetPlate 7600, a 4-up direct to plate printing system.

Both organizations hail the news as an advance for companies interested in deploying Computer to Plate (CTP)-based workflows. Explaining that a large segment of the print market has been left behind as CTP-based systems have developed, Ultimate Technologies director of product development Robert Dumas said that the new systems are more affordable. “We believe IMPress and JetPlate will make significant inroad among small and mid-size printers,” Dumas added.
The JetPlate series is designed for small and medium format printers, according to Pisces. It uses “liquid light” chemical technology which Pisces said emulates the action of light on the plate’s photosensitive emulsion. IMPress is Ultimate’s imposition software, available for both Mac OS X and Windows.
