Level 9 Sound Designs Inc. has introduced its new Monsoon PlanarMedia 14 multimedia system — its high-end entry into the 2.1 multimedia speaker market.

PlanarMedia 14 speakers feature the flat panel Planar Focus Technology (PFT) speakers popularized in other Monsoon products. They use PFT100 series transducers. The system can handle 200 watts peak power and 100 watts RMS with 103dB peak SPL in a typical desktop environment, according to the manufacturer.
The flat-panel speakers are accompanied by an 8-inch powered subwoofer with bass reflex down to 35Hz. The system also includes a desktop control for mute and power standby, bass level, and master volume, as well as a headphone jack for times when you’d prefer to listen privately.
The new system comes with a two-year limited warranty and a suggested retail price of US$149. (The company’s Web site had not been updated with information about the new speakers as MacCentral posted this article.)
