Roz Ho, an eleven-year Microsoft veteran, has been named general manager of the company’s Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU).
Ho spent the past three years as the product unit manager leading the MacBU’s Silicon Valley team. Now she’ll be leading a team of approximately 150 full-time employees in charge of Macintosh software, including Office, Internet Explorer and more.
The MacBU also plans on bringing its MSN service to Mac OS X early next year. When it becomes available in 2003, MSN will feature free 24-hour Mac specific customer support via phone, e-mail or the Web, as well as an application built from the ground up for Mac OS X.
Before her appointment to general manager, Ho was responsible for product development, management and testing for Entourage, Outlook Express, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and MSN for Mac OS X. Ho joined the Macintosh Business Unit in 2000 and was previously a program manager for Microsoft PowerPoint and OfficeArt.
Ho replaces Kevin Browne as head of the MacBU; Browne stepped down in October. Since then, Ho, Tim McDonough (director of marketing) and Michael Connolly (group program manager) have led the MacBU.
