Designed for iMovie 2.0.1 or higher running on Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, the plug-in provides iMovie users with the ability to zoom and pan on both moving video and still images. Virtix Zoom and Pan 2.0 uses the full resolution of high-quality still images, producing sharper-looking results, according to the developers.
With Virtix Zoom and Pan 2.0 you can specify an X-Y position, a magnification factor and an angle parameter at the beginning and end of the click, enabling you to move, zoom into and rotate an image simultaneously. The plug-in uses a custom interface.
The plug-in supports transparency, and can superimpose imported still images on top of video playing in the background. It also includes Spotlight and Witness Protection, two “bonus” effects that let you highlight or blur a circular area, respectively.
Virtix Zoom and Pan can be purchased for US$34.99. A demonstration movie and more info are available online. Previous users of Virtix Zoom and Virtix Pan and Scan can upgrade to the new plug-in for $14.99. If you’ve bought both plug-ins in the past, you can upgrade for free.
