Mac upgrade system maker PowerLogix has announced a 700MHz PowerForce G4 Series 100. The upgrade is aimed at Power Mac G4 and Power Mac G4 Cube systems. The company also introduce a 733MHz version of the PowerForce G4 Series 133.
PowerLogix is now offering the PowerForce Series Trade-Up Program. This promotion enables users to select the speed upgrade they can afford, then trade up at a later date to a faster processor. Customers simply pay for the difference in the retail price of the two cards.
The 700MHz PowerForce upgrade is compatible with Power Mac G4s originally equipped with 350-500 MHz processors, while the 733MHz model supports Power Macs running originally from 466MHz to 667MHz systems, including dual processor equipped models.
Retail prices range from US$449 to $799. Availability of the Series 100 model is expected to be constrained while production ramps up, with the 133 available in August. PowerLogix said to look for details on the Web site soon.
