Developers, take note. OpenLink Software — which makes database connectivity drivers for ODBC and JDBC — said that an update to its collective ODBC ecosystem for Mac OS X was “imminent.” The update will comprise ODBC Drivers for all major databases, an ODBC SDK (software development kit) for ODBC compliant applications and drivers developers, and a Runtime Environment (ODBC Driver Manager).

It will includes an Cocoa based ODBC Administrator applet that provides an ODBC Driver installation and configuration interface that is consistent with similar interfaces on Windows and Linux. This product update ensures that Mac OS X developers are accorded the same infrastructure for developing database independent applications and drivers, as is currently available to developers on prior releases of Mac OS X, Mac Classic, Windows, and Linux, according to Andrew Hill, OpenLink’s director of Technology Evangelism.
