MCE Technologies, LLC is using Macworld Conference & Expo to debut its QuickStream DV. The new device is billed as a portable digital video capture and storage solution that accelerates the post-production process.
The QuickStream DV can be used to record simultaneously alongside a camera’s videotape, recording up to 4.5 ours of continuous uninterrupted video. This effectively negates the need to digitize footage separately.

The QuickStream DV uses the “Multidapt” attachment system, which provides multiple carrying options. It also features a rugged rubberized outer shell and internal shock absorbers. The unit is self-powered by an internal lithium-ion-polymer battery that recharges via the Mac’s FireWire port, or with an included AC adapter or separately available auto adapter if need be.
MCE said the new device works with any DV Camera with a FireWire, IEEE 1394 or iLink DV interface. It supports Mac OS 9.2 and later.
Three models are available: 90 minute, 3 hours, and 4.5 hours of recording time for US$499, $599, and $799 respectively. The auto adapter costs $14.99.
