In addition to previewing Mac OS X products at this week’s Macworld Conference & Expo in New York, MacSpeech also announced ScriptPaks for QuarkXPress and iTunes.

ScriptPaks are plug-ins that add application-specific commands to the company’s popular iListen program, as well as its free Mac OS 9-only ListenDo! utility. The QuarkXPress ScriptPak gives QuarkXPress users a “third hand” by providing voice access to over 125 commands in QuarkXPress, Jones said.
“Virtually any keyboard shortcut you used to do by hand can now be done simply by speaking,” said MacSpeech. “This ScriptPak is the first in a series of more complex ScriptPaks especially created for design professionals.”
The QuarkXPress ScriptPak will sell for US$39 from the company’s Web site. The iTunes 2 ScriptPak allows the user to control iTunes even when it is not the front-most application. You can skip to the next song, raise or lower the volume, pause, fast forward and rewind, all by using your voice. The iTunes 2 ScriptPak will sell for $15 from the MacSpeech Web site.
A ScriptPak for iTunes 3 is in the works and should be available by the time the company releases its forthcoming Mac OS X products, iListen 1.3 and iDictate 1.0. Both ScriptPaks are in final testing and will be released as soon as testing is completed.
