Electronics for Imaging, a company that specializes in software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, and GretagMacbeth, a firm that makes color measurement and management solutions, have teamed up on the EFI Color Profiler. The profiler is a tool designed to give professionals digital software and hardware for controlling their color production environments.
Due Aug. 1, the EFI Color Profiler integrates into any International Color Consortium (ICC) workflow environment, enabling custom color creation of ICC profiles with any ICC-supported CMYK digital printer, according to Ghilad Dziesietnik, vice president of Software Engineering, Electronics for Imaging. The EFI Color Profiler is also ideal for PDF workflow environments, he added.
EFI’s Color Profiler takes advantage of the color capabilities of the newly released Fiery System 5 software and the optional Fiery Graphics Arts Package. Fiery System 5 and the Graphic Arts Package offers graphic arts professionals a suite of tools for maximizing color and print quality.
The Color Profiler works with GretagMacbeth’s ES-1000 Spectrophotometer. It measures daily color fluctuations of the printing device and enables users to produce crisp, bright and accurate color output. The spectrophotometer-measuring device is powered by a USB connection and can be used with a Mac or PC.
A Color Profiler demo is available for download at the EFI Web site. There’s no pricing info on the product; you’ll have to give the company your e-mail address, and they’ll contact you with info on their products and services.
