Targeted at media organizations that need to control access to proprietary content during the digital production process, the DMOD WorkSpace Gateway 2.0 is the first software-only, client/server solution to provide persistent media access control from content creation, through review/approval cycles, to mastering and manufacturing — all points at which music tracks, feature films, digital dailies and pre-release versions of works are most often leaked or stolen, according to Mark Overington, president and CEO of DMOD.
Sold directly by DMOD, the product is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows 2000/XP, Linux and Sun platforms. Pricing starts at US$17,500 for one server and five simultaneous clients.
DMOD WorkSpace Gateway 2.0 sports a Java-based architecture and new features for centralized control, administration and distribution. It leverages DMOD’s unique real-time encryption system that protects every piece of content “on the fly” for each individual recipient, Overington said. In the unlikely event that one recipient would break the key and compromise the file, other recipients still can’t gain access, he added.
