The Article Queue window has been completely rewritten and has a new, easier-to-use interface, according to Mike Trivisonno of Parker Software. There’s also a new Spam Detection preference — by clicking a radio button in the NewsHunter Preferences window, you can eliminate a large amount of spam, Trivisonno said. This new preference examines article headers for data typically found in spam messages and skips over them. When enabled, users can expect to see a 20 to 50 percent reduction in spam, Trivisonno said. And, while improving the news reading experience, NewsHunter also sees improvements in its GUI (graphical user interface), he added.
Long file names are supported in NewsHunter 2.0.3; windows now resize correctly when the Dock is visible; dialog boxes look much nicer; there’s more extensive use of Sheets (dialog boxes attached to their parent window); and more. The update is free to registered users.
NewsHunter can be downloaded from the Parker Software Development Web site. Unregistered versions of NewsHunter are fully functional, won’t time out, and don’t expire. However, they will occasionally display reminders to register the US$49.95 application.
