Participating companies donate $1,500 in cash or equipment, and sponsor a team for a night of bowling at the Yerba Buena Bowling Center — located atop the Moscone Center itself, where Macworld Expo is held. This year’s MacBowl event happens on Thursday, January 9th. This year Macworld and Aspyr Media are joined by supporters including Microsoft Corp., ATI Technologies Inc., Destineer, Synthetik Software, Aladdin Systems and MacPlay.
Last year the MacBowl raised $20,000 in equipment, software, and peripherals for the Sheridan Elementary School.
The target of this year’s MacBowl charity is the Charles Drew Elementary School, a Bayview District school in San Francisco located on Pomona Avenue. The school was chosen with the help of the office of San Francisco’s Unified School District. The school was selected from among the most computer deficient schools in the area, according to the sponsors.
