The Sims was developed for the PC by Maxis, and is one of Aspyr Media’s biggest hits. The game enables you to rule the lives of simulated people called Sims, helping them to decorate their homes, get jobs, meet people and interact with each other. The game has spawned myriad expansion packs that provide you with new items to populate your Sims’ homes with, new places to visit, new things to do and much more.
The Sims: Unleashed brings pets to the world of The Sims, everything from dogs and goldfish to lizards. Adding the new expansion pack also expands the size of the neighborhood with 40 all new residential and community lots, parks, a cafe, shops and a farmer’s market, as well. What’s more, your Sims can participate in 50 new jobs and decorate their homes with 125 new objects.
The Sims: Unleashed requires the original The Sims game to play. It costs US$29.95 and requires Mac OS 9.2.2 or later; G3/233MHz or faster; 192MB RAM; 2MB VRAM; 750MB HD space; and QuickTime 4.1.2 or later.
Driving fans will be pleased to know that NASCAR Racing 2002 Season is also shipping. The game puts players behind the wheel of high-performance NASCAR racing machines as they participate in the 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup series. You can get a tutorial from Winston Cup champion Darrel Waltrip and then take to the track yourself.
The game features all the drivers, sites and sounds of the 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup series, and is one of the very first Mac games to support Immersion Corp.’s TouchSense force feedback technology (if you’re using a supported game controller and Mac OS X 10.2.3 or higher).
NASCAR Racing 2002 Season costs $49.95 and runs exclusively on the Mac on Mac OS X. It requires 256MB RAM; G4/733MHz or G4/500MHz Dual Processor or faster; 4x CD-ROM; 665MB HD space; and ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better 3D graphics acceleration.
In related news, Aspyr Media also noted that its Mac conversion of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 is at Final Candidate status, one of the last steps before a game is declared Gold Master and sent to production. The skateboarding game is being converted to the Mac by Beenox Studios and is anticipated for an early January release, according to Aspyr.
