Exabyte Corp., a company that makes tape backup systems, is highlighting its new VXA-2 with FireWire, a new version of its VXA-2 tape drive for Mac users, at this week’s Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco.
VXA-2 with FireWire provides a faster data transfer rate and larger capacity than the previous version. The VXA-2 tape drive is designed to deliver a native capacity of up to 80 GB and a compressed capacity of up to 160 GB, while maintaining full read and write compatibility with the first generation VXA-1 tape drive.
The VXA-2 with FireWire has a manufacturers suggested retail price of US$1,693. It’s compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 and higher.
