Dantz Development Corp., a provider of backup and restore software for the Mac, says their Retrospect Desktop Backup software for Mac OS now includes client licenses for backing up two additional computers on a home or small office network. Dantz has also lowered the list price on Retrospect Desktop Backup 5.0 from US$249 to $129.
Retrospect Desktop 5.0 now includes support for Mac OS X 10.2 (“Jaguar”). Not surprisingly, it has features not available in Dantz’s entry-level product, Retrospect Express. What sort of features? Custom selectors that can filter files based on multiple criteria, support for tape drives and autoloaders, and intelligent network backup that can be set up to only back up one copy of duplicate files.
Retrospect Desktop supports both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. Network clients can be desktops or notebooks running Mac OS 7, 8, 9, or X. The new Retrospect Desktop 5.0 bundle for Macintosh is available immediately. Additional client licenses are available individually at a list price of $29, or in packs of 5 for $129. Upgrades from previous versions are available at a discount.
