The product family now supports Windows NT, Windows 2000/XP, HP, Solaris, Linux, and AIX platforms, as well as Mac OS X. Marimba’s Desktop/Mobile Management products help companies distribute software to just about any end-point in their networked enterprise. This technology includes policy management capabilities that enable IT resources to pre-determine how and when software updates are distributed, installed, repaired and removed. It also features browser-based reporting capabilities that provide line-of-business managers with real-time status on software deployments and assets.
“Adding support for Mac OS X demonstrates Marimba’s commitment to supporting heterogeneous desktop environments,” said Kia Behnia, chief technology officer for Marimba. “By extending support across all popular desktop computing platforms, Marimba gives Global 2000 and Fortune 500 enterprises, as well as educational institutions, more options and greater flexibility for managing their complex IT environments.”
Marimba’s Mac OS X supported desktop and mobile management products have been successfully implemented at test sites such as Stanford University and State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio, he added. For more details on the Desktop/Mobile Management solutions, go to the Marimba Web site.
