Extensis Inc. has announced Mask Pro 3, the latest version of their masking and selection tools for Adobe Photoshop. A Mac version will be available next month.
Mask Pro 3 offers color decontamination for improved edge transparency. This new feature improves masking of semi-transparent objects like hair, smoke or glass without sacrificing the quality of the image, according to Lisa McCormack, Mask Pro product manager for Extensis. New blur and chisel tools provide users with global and local control of mask edges. New highlighter tools let you define areas to keep and drop from the image.
Improved color-matching technology creates masks based on keep/drop color areas. There’s also purportedly better control over edge transparency and background color spill. And with Mask Pro 3, you can view results on the fly.
