Mokey separates out foreground objects and removes unwanted objects from moving footage, without using traditional keying techniques or hand painting. Mokey is used for, among other things, film restoration. Besides Mac OS X compatibility, Mokey also adds an EdgeTrack feature, which allows users to automatically adjust the shape of the spline to follow the object being tracked. This reduces the amount of interaction required during tracking, and opens up the possibility of combining motion keying with rotoscoping, according to Allan Jaenicke, managing editor for Imagineer.
Mokey for Mac OS X is available for both Mokey Studio and Mokey Soho. A rental version of Pricing for the Soho Edition is US$9,950, and the Studio Edition is $4,995. Mokey for Mac OS X will also be available for download.
Mokey Soho Edition is aimed at post-production facilities working with SD, HD, and film. It includes all the features of Mokey 2.1, is resolution-independent, and can import Cineon and DPX files. Mokey Studio Edition is aimed at video post-production facilities and has all the features of Mokey 2.1; it also works with Standard Definition clips (PAL and NTSC).
