BIAS Inc. is now shipping Peak 3.2, a new version of the digital audio editing application. The company has also updated their Vbox multi-effects control environment to version 1.2.
Peak 3.2 adds support for BIAS’ new SoundSoap noise reduction plug-in. Peak is compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 (“Jaguar”) and higher, as well as Mac OS 8.6-9.x. The update is a free download for registered users from the BIAS Web site; for new users, Peak has a suggested retail price of US$499.
SoundSoap works by removing “broadband” noise and removing low-frequency rumble, as well as hum: the 50Hz and 60Hz electrical “buzzing” sound common in many audio recordings. The software can even “intelligently” learn the difference between the noise and the desired audio.
Vbox 1.2 is also compatible with SoundSoap. Plus, the update runs even faster on Mac OS X, according to the folks at BIAS. Vbox is a graphic control environment for VST plug-ins that can be used to combine, repatch, and mix multiple VST plug-in effects.
It integrates into any VST host application — including BIAS Peak, BIAS Deck, Steinberg Cubase, Steinberg Nuendo, and others — for real-time effects processing. Vbox also works as a freestanding application that can process and save audio files or record, process and save a live feed.
It’s compatible with Jaguar and higher, as well as Mac OS 9.x. Vbox 1.2 is shipping at a suggested retail price of $99.
