Kerio MailServer offers POP3, IMAP, WebMail and WAP access to e-mail services. Beside anti-viral protection, the software also offers secure access capabilities and spam blocking. Kerio Technologies Inc. claims its MailServer is the only one available for the Mac that integrates McAfee’s Anti-Virus engine.
The inclusion of McAfee anti-virus technology helps weed out problems associated with mail that may have been infected with a virus by its senders inadvertently, according to the developer. What’s more, it adds an important choice to the corporate mail server market for Mac OS X, according to Kerio’s director of marketing, Dusan Vitek.
“Apple’s customer base includes many types of small businesses, independent departments of large companies, and education and government institutions. Our past success with these types of customers, along with Apple’s recent increased focus on server solutions, the long-heralded security of the Mac OS, and Kerio MailServer’s combination of functionality and ease of use, made our decision to support Mac OS X a no-brainer,” he said.
Kerio MailServer 5.5 is available for US$679. A version of Kerio MailServer without McAfee Anti-Virus is also available for $395.
