Members of the Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group network (or FCPUG ) plan to meet at this month’s NY DV Show.

The event happens at “The Theater” in Madison Square Garden at 7PM on Friday, January 31. The leaders of the FCPUG Network said that it will be the largest gathering of FCP gurus and users to assemble in one spot on the East Coast.
A comparison of camcorders from Panasonic, Canon and Sony is on the agenda. Evan Schechtman will demonstrate ways to achieve a “film look” using what’s already included with Final Cut Pro. And Joe Maller will show off how to build a simple plug-in using FXBuilder — he’ll also demonstrate some of what’s included with version 3.5 of his own Joe’s Filters collection.
That’s not all, either — Julie Talen will show clips from her movie “Pretend,” and “Stump the Gurus” will pit the audience against FCP experts including Charles Roberts, Dan Berube, Jeff Greenberg, Patrick Inhofer, Michael Wong, Gary Adcock and others. And last but not least, there will be a raffle with prizes worth thousands of dollars.
You have to register for the NY DV Show to attend the FCPUG Network event, but registration is free.
