Formac Electronic Inc. has announced the VGA version of its Formac Gallery 1740 display. The Gallery 1740 is an LCD display with a 17.4 inch viewable area.

The Gallery 1740 is already available in two digital versions, with interfaces that support Apple Display Connector (ADC) or Digital Visual Interface (DVI). The addition of a VGA version means the display can now work with conventional analog connections as found on many Macs and PCs.
The Gallery 1740 VGA features Fujitsu’s Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment (MVA) technology, and sports 200cd/m2 brightness and 400:1 contrast ratio. The display sports a viewing angle of up to 160 degrees and has a response time of 10-25ms, making it suitable for digital video playback, according to Formac.
With a native resolution of 1,280 x 1,024 pixels, the Gallery 1740 VGA supports multiple resolutions and also features an on screen menu that users can manipulate to adjust brightness, contrast, color, position and frequency. The Gallery 1740 VGA also includes the Formac Display Connector (FDC), a special cable that combines USB, power and video to reduce cable clutter. The display itself sports a powered two-port USB hub.
Look for the Formac Gallery 1740 VGA to hit store shelves at the end of the month with an estimated retail price of US$699.
