Interested in turning database or spreadsheet content into static Web pages? Fourth World Media Corp. has released an update to its 4W WebMerge product that adds support for multi-column index page layouts and more.

With WebMerge, you can display database or spreadsheet data on any Web server without needing to host a specialized database solution. WebMerge works by merging exported database or spreadsheet data (in tab-delimited, Merge or other tabular formats) with an HTML template, into an HTML page. WebMerge can also create index pages with links to detail pages.
In addition to support for multi-column index page layouts, WebMerge 2.2 sports improvements including a new tag that inserts a text or HTML file reference by a path in a field of data. All navigation tags now allow attributes in the generated link, including JavaScript function calls and Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) assignments. Fourth World has also improved WebMerge’s interface.
WebMerge 2.2 costs US$79 to register; multi-user licenses are available at a discount. A free limited version is available for download if you’d like to try it out first. System requirements call for Mac OS 8.0 or later, 64MB RAM and 5MB hard disk space.
