UK game publisher Feral Interactive has announced that its Mac conversion of Worms Blast has gone gold master — the final step in development before a game goes into duplication and hits store shelves. Feral anticipates seeing the game on store shelves by mid-February — the game will be distributed in North America by MacPlay.

Worms Blast is the latest Mac installment of the popular “Worms” franchise, in which you help cartoon worms on a sea voyage. Taking a cue from arcade classics like “Bust a Move” or “Snood,” Worms Blast arms you with a colored bazooka and a mission to shoot colored blocks. Match the colors and the block is destroyed, along with any other same-colored blocks that connect.
There’s more to it than that, however — Worms Blast is rife with multiplayer modes — eight in all — that pit you against the computer or against other humans. There are a total of 10 different game modes in all, more than 20 weapons, utilities and gadgets to use, and a bunch of characters to choose from, each with unique skills and weaknesses.

System requirements call for Mac OS 9.1 or later or Mac OS X 10.1.3 or later, PowerPC G3/233MHz or faster, 64MB RAM, 300MB free hard disk space. The game is available for pre-order directly from Feral for £25, for folks in the U.K. or Europe. MacPlay is now taking stateside orders for $29.99.
