Streamwaves.com provides subscription-based access to commercial music, with popular artists like Norah Jones, Faith Hill, Pink, Nelly, Eminem, Nickleback and many others. Streamwaves has licensing arrangements with EMI, BMG, Universal Music Group, Warner, and others. The service requires the use of Windows Media Player, but it works fine with Windows Media Player for Mac OS X, which is available for free download from Microsoft’s Web site.
Streamwaves.com is offering Mac users 10 percent off its monthly membership subscription prices. The company is offering an addition 5 percent discount through their user group community boards. Other savings plans are available if you opt for a quarterly or annual membership.
Once you’ve signed up for Streamwaves.com, you can create and save your own playlists by searching through their database, which contains thousands of songs. The Streamwaves system retains personalized information for you and will recommend new music based on what you’ve already listened to.
Streamwaves CEO Jeff Tribble acknowledged the fierce loyalty of Mac users in a recent statement, and said his company is delighted to offer a service that Mac users can take advantage of. “We anticipate a strong response from Mac users just as we have from thousands of others who share their membership satisfaction with us,” he said.
