Pearson Education Technologies has released 66 new multimedia lessons in mathematics and language arts for its NovaNET comprehensive courseware system, an online, standards-based curriculum and assessment system designed specifically for middle and high school learners. It’s online and cross-platform, so is compatible with both Mac and Windows systems.
The math lessons cover fractions, addition, and subtraction. The language arts lessons include writing, capitalization, puctuation, spelling, word usage, vocabulary and research strategies.
In addition to the new lessons, the update allows educators to request to have their own private note files created on the NovaNET system for specific student and classroom use. The private note files enable teachers to create a secure chat room where they can communicate with students about the day’s lessons, class assignments and group projects. They can also be used for online discussion forums set to allow students to participate in conversations that are either open-ended or instructor-moderated.
The NovaNET winter 2003 release will ship free to all current NovaNET subscribers. Customers can deploy the new lessons, as well as the entire NovaNET library of multimedia lessons, from the CD or from the Pearson Education Technologies Customer Link support Web site.
