OpenOSX, a provider of open-source software, has updated their OpenWeb CD to 2.5.1 and published a free 2.5.1 update for their OpenWeb 2.5 customers. The new version delivers updated software including PHP 4.3.0, additional enhancements, and the update will eliminate several potential issues discovered with the previous version, according to Jeshua Lacock, owner of OpenOSX.
The OpenWeb customizable package, targeted to Webmasters, will install and configure a suite of popular server software and Web applications, including a secure shopping cart; a content management and publishing system; Web-based graphical server administration tools (supporting DNS, SSL, Apache, MySQL, Samba, etc.); SQL database backends, a search engine; bulletin board system; advertising management; and more.
OpenWeb is based on Apache versions 1.3.27 and 2.0.43 with PHP 4.3.0 (built as Apache 1 and 2 modules), Jakarta Tomcat 4.1.12 along with mod_jk 1.2.1 (also built as Apache 1 and 2 modules), Perl 5.8.0 with mod_perl versions 1.27 and 1.99_07, MySQL 3.23.53 with MyODBC 2.50.39, OpenSSL 0.9.6g with mod_ssl 2.8.12.
