The new Web-based StorView storage management software is now available from nStor Corp., a developer of storage-network technologies and solutions. StorView is modular, based on open standards in its design, and capable of running on a variety of operating systems, including the Mac, according to company officials.
It uses an HTML-based graphical user interface (GUI) for setting up and monitoring a storage system, such as RAID configuration, locally or over the network. StorView is the fifth generation of software management tools developed by nStor and is the first module of nStor’s NSM Architecture. It’s designed to serve as the local configuration manager or be accessed for global management and monitoring, StorView provides virtual storage maintenance from anywhere in the world. IT administrators, by using a Web browser and having access through the secure firewall, have the ability to change RAID configurations and LUN permissions on the fly, without server re-boots or disruption to data access
