Stop-Motion Studio enables a Mac equipped with a FireWire-based video camera to capture images for stop-motion movies. Stop-motion is an animation technique popularized by old monster movies and “claymation” television specials. The software sports features like “onion-skinning” (or ghosting), so you can preview shots; time-lapse photography; and more.
In addition to Flash export, the new version of Stop-Motion Studio features a completely redone interface. You can now import soundtracks; scroll-head has been added for scrubbing animation; playback can be looped; new keystrokes are supported; and you can use the software sans camera if you want to import image sequences to animate them.
A demo version is ready for download from the Web site. It costs US$39.95 to register.
