Bubble Design has released the Habitat, a new desktop cradle for the iPod. The stand is injection molded polycarbonate that sits your iPod on a desk at an angle, with holders for both the iPod and its earbuds.

Bubble Design principal Wayne Calco said that the Habitat was designed out of need, after his own iPod started getting buried under piles on his desk. “When I later noticed my iPod’s case was getting scuffed I thought to myself, ‘This thing needs a home,'” he said.
The angle of the Habitat is optimized for viewing the iPod’s screen, according to Bubble Design, and the configuration allows for one-handed iPod operation, as well. What’s more, the Habitat can also hold the FireWire cable in its own pocket, when the iPod isn’t charging or downloading.
The Secure Habitat is another option — this version adds a stainless steel anti-theft bracket to keep would-be iPod snatchers away. The Secure Habitat is compatible with all PC locks on the market, according to Bubble Design.
The Habitat for iPod costs US$24.99. The Secure Habitat includes the locking bracket and costs $39.99. Both can be purchased from Bubble Products’ online store.
