WiebeTech has introduced the Forensic NoteBook DriveDock, a FireWire bridge built for forensic analysis of notebook data storage devices and targeted to the law enforcement and criminal investigation markets.
The DriveDock is a tiny peripheral that lets users attach a raw hard disk drive mechanism to the FireWire interface on a Mac or PC. The Forensic DriveDock differs from the regular model by being write blocked, making it possible to read data but not accidentally overwrite it.
The US$299.95 Forensic NoteBook DriveDock is a smaller version of WiebeTech’s original Forensic DriveDock. The original is still available and supports 3.5-inch drives.
The Forensic Notebook DriveDock, which measures 0.62 by 1.40 by 2.50 inches, uses the Oxford 911 FireWire bridge, requires no drivers under Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.1 (and higher), and is bus powered.
