ComGrafix Inc.’s RagTime 5.6 for Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar is now in public beta. It’s available for download from the product Web site, but remember that beta software is unfinished software, so don’t use it for any “mission critical” work.
RagTime is a business publishing application that allows users to create spreadsheets; annual reports; generate catalogues and price lists; perform calculations, and display them in graphical form.
RagTime 5.6 for Mac OS X adds the ability to acquire photos from any camera supported by systems applications, Image Capture, or iPhoto. To acquire a picture, you can use the Select Source and Acquire Data commands in the File Scanner and Cameras menu — or you can configure Mac OS X to launch RagTime whenever a digital camera is connected to your Mac.
RagTime 5.6 for Mac OS X also integrates with Apple’s Address Book application. It contains a new set of functions specifically developed for accessing the fields of Address Book, Bob Horst of ComGrafix told MacCentral.
The new version can be run in five languages: German, German for Switzerland, English, French and Dutch. Launching the application activates the language selected by the user under System Preferences-International-Language. RagTime 5.6 also adds a Help Tags feature.
