Mireth Technology, which makes a variety of software utilities, has launched MacMP3CD for Mac OS X. The new product lets you burn and play MP3 CDs (audio CDs that are burned using the MP3 file format).
Of course, you can do that on iTunes already, however, MacMP3CD was designed to offer features above and beyond those of Apple’s iApp, Mireth Technology spokesperson Donna Johnson told MacCentral. She said that MacMP3CD has the following advantages:
It works with iTunes libraries in addition to other MP3 libraries. It supports a new folder feature that allows for easier organization and navigation of MP3s because you can skip from folder to folder as well as from song to song. It will navigate multiple user MP3 libraries. It supports Burn Lists, which allow you to save the content list of an MP3 CD from a number of play lists. This is designed to simplify the recreation of a CD in case the first is lost Playback features include auto recognition and auto play of MP3 CDs (so MP3 CDs start playing when inserted), auto eject, and auto loop With the built-in CD-RW erase feature, you can erase and re-use CD-RWs. MacMP3CD for Mac OS X costs US$19.95; volume licensing is also available. A demo copy is available for a download and test drive.
