NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America Inc. has introduced its LCD4000. The new monitor is a 40-inch flat panel display specifically aimed at public displays, conference presentations, information kiosks, financial exchanges, trade shows, retail locations and airport signage.

The LCD4000 features a wide aspect ratio and a native resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. It also features 450 cd/m2 brightness and a 600:1 contrast ratio, according to the manufacturer. The LCD4000 also sports a 23ms response time and 170 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles.
The LCD4000 has a DDC/CI interface for remote diagnostics and administration, and features CableComp, which enables the DDC/CI interface to be remotely controlled up to 100 meters away. The monitor uses a VESA-compliant mount configuration. The display features a DVI-D digital interface and a VGA monitor interface, along with BNC VGA, composite video, component video, S-Video and NTSC connectors.
NEC-Mitsubishi will begin shipping the LCD4000 at the end of March. The display carries an estimated street price of US$5,799.
