WAP Mac is a new service that enables .Mac users to check their .Mac e-mail accounts from WAP-compliant devices like some Net-enabled cell phones. Part of the service is free.

The basic free service enables you to browse or read messages, but in order to reply or compose new messages, you’re asked to contribute US$15 (it’s a one time fee). The fee is to help offset the cost associated with the site’s bandwidth.
Any WAP-capable browser should work with WAP Mac, so the service should be able to support most Internet capable mobile and PCS phones, and wireless PDAs, as well. No information is collected by WAP Mac itself, so the contents of your e-mail is reasonably safe. “It is no more secure or less secure than your current mail application, i.e. Mail.app or Outlook,” explained the service.
“WAP Mac was created to encourage Apple to think out of the box when offering services such as email,” said WAP Mac’s creator.
