Sad because your Mac doesn’t have an internal SuperDrive, so you can’t run iDVD? LaCie has an alternative. The company is shipping Pixela’s CaptyDVD, a DVD/Video CD authoring solution that supports MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and QuickTime movies as video sources.
Compatible with Mac OS X and OS 9.x, CaptyDVD supports NTSC and PAL standards and lets users customize their DVD creations with title menus, thumbnails, backgrounds and more. It comes with a collection of templates and themes.
CaptyDVD sports a chapter function that allows particular frames to be marked for locating particular scenes, then setting up chapter menus for simplified navigation. Marked frames can also be displayed as thumbnails. The application can create Toast-compatible DVD images, as well. CaptyDVD ships with the LaCie d2 FireWire DVD-Rewritable Drive (4x DVD-R) for US$379 or can be bought as a standalone product for $149.
