St. Clair Software has updated Default Folder X to version 1.6.6. The update adds support for Path Finder, CocoaTech’s Finder replacement, and corrects compatibility problems with AlphaTk and CopyPaste.
Default Folder X enhances the Open and Save dialog boxes on the Mac. It lets you set up a default folder for any or all applications, switch among recently used folders, and navigate to your favorite folders. You can click on the buttons to go to your favorite and recently used folders, manage the folders and files shown in the list and make changes to their settings.
Path Finder 2.1 from CocoaTech-YazSoft is touted as the “more complete Mac OS X Finder.” The utility purportedly has all the default functionality of the standard Mac OS X Finder, as well as additional features, such as putting an Aqua user interface on Unix tools for operating on files.
This 1.6.6 update is free to users who have registered earlier versions of Default Folder X. Existing users of Default Folder 3.x receive a US$15 discount off the regular price; for new users, registration is US$34.95.
