CMS Peripherals Inc. is the latest company to add a 250GB hard disk mechanism to their product line, in the form of the company’s hard disk-based automated backup system, the ABSplus. CMS announced that it’s now shipping two new models of its ABSplus: 200GB and 250GB units. They’re compatible with “Classic” Mac OS and Mac OS X.

ABSplus enables Mac users to automatically backup their computers without having to configure or manipulate conventional backup or archive software. The system features an “automatic launcher” that senses when the drive is connected and then backs up the desktop system it’s connected to. It manages incremental backups on subsequent connections, for fast backups. ABSplus is also bootable, both in Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.
ABSplus is available in FireWire or USB interfaces. The 200 and 250GB joins 80 and 120GB models already available. Prices start at US$349 depending on capacity. Prices on the new drives were not available from CMS’s Web site as MacCentral posted this article.
