FruitMenu 3.0, the latest version of Unsanity’s utility for customizing and enhancing the Apple and contextual menus, has been released.
Using a visual editor, FruitMenu lets you edit the contents of the menus to suit your personal preferences. It will also display the contents of the FruitMenu Items folder inside of your Library folder, launch applications and shell scripts from the Apple Menu to simplify file navigation and launching. With FruitMenu, you can also assign hotkeys to particular Apple menu items.
With version 3.0, you can define different configurations for Apple and Contextual menus for different applications via application-specific settings. FruitMenu has implemented a “Click and Hold Mouse Button to Access Contextual Menu In Finder” option; just click and wait if you have a one-button mouse in the Finder. The update adds a “Disable Animated Menu Fadeouts” option to speed up system response time and a new Advanced Settings section in the preference pane to tweak some less-common features of the utility. There are other enhancements, as well.
Version 3.0 is free to all registered users. For others, it’s US$10.
