Time for the sequel: the $199 Fire-works 2, an upgrade to Macromedia’s (415/252-2000, https://www.macromedia.com ) popular Web graphics editor, adds more support for JavaScript behaviors, a larger catalog of image effects, more-sophisticated export features, and improved color control.
One Drive for Many
Share CDs and DVD-ROMs over a network with the DiscZerver series of thin servers from Microtest (602/952-6400, https://www.microtest.com ). DiscZerver 2.0, DiscPortVT, and DiscPort2 let multiple network users simultaneously access information from a single CD or DVD. You can also record CDs by adding a CD-R drive to the network.
PC for Blue G3’s
Orange Micro (714/779-2772, https://www.orangemicro.com ) has updated its PC compatibility cards to work with the blue Power Mac G3’s. The new OrangePC 625, PCfx, and 665 cards also boost hard-drive performance, the vendor says. Prices begin at $499.
Suitcase Changes Hands
Suitcase, the font utility formerly offered by Symantec (408/253-9600, https://www.symantec.com ), is now available from Extensis (503/274-2020, https://www.extensis.com ), which plans to ship a new Mac OS 8.5-compatible version by July.
